Intracoastal Waterway, North Carolina

The beauty along the Intracoastal Waterway is seen here looking from Highway 70 between Beaufort and Morehead City, North Carolina. The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, conceived by the US Secretary of the treasury, Albert Gallatin in 1808 and reported to then President Thomas Jefferson, was not completed until the 1930s.

North Carolina Lighthouses

The North Carolina lighthouses stand proudly as they guide ocean traffic carefully away from the dangerous shoals of the North Carolina coast. From south to north the lighthouses are: Oak Island, Bald Head Island, Cape Lookout, Ocracoke, Cape Hatteras, Bodie Island and Currituck Beach.

Linville Falls
Blue Ridge Parkway
