Located in the heart of Curecanti National Recreation Area, Blue Mesa Reservoir is Colorado's largest body of water. Kokanee salmon were introduced to Colorado in 1951, and the Blue Mesa Reservoir has since become the largest Kokannee salmon fishery in the United States.
